Facebook group covers are 1640x856 pixels, a wider and taller banner than an event cover. Upload your image below and crop it to that exact ratio so the group header looks deliberate rather than stretched.
| Recommended size | 1640 x 856 pixels |
|---|---|
| Aspect ratio | Approximately 1.91:1 |
| Minimum width | 400 pixels |
| Supported formats | JPG, PNG |
| Mobile crop | Left and right edges are trimmed - centre the key content |
| Group name overlay | Group name appears below the banner, not on it |
Facebook crops the group banner more aggressively on mobile than on desktop, trimming the left and right edges. Designing at 1640x856 and keeping the key content centred is what keeps the header working on both.
Facebook group covers are 1640 x 856 pixels. That is larger than an event cover and a different shape from a page cover.
Mobile trims the sides of the banner. Keep logos and text within the middle portion so they survive the crop.
Not directly. Page covers and group covers are different shapes, so a page cover will be cropped when used on a group.
PNG keeps text and logos sharp. JPG is a better choice for a photographic banner because the file is smaller.
